Riassunto di The Humanity Bureau
Da große Bereiche der USA durch die Folgen der globalen Erwärmung unbewohnbar geworden sind, müssen Teile der Bevölkerung zwangsumgesiedelt werden. Um diese gewaltige logistische Herausforderung zu bewältigen, hat die Regierung das „Humanity Bureau“ ins Leben gerufen, in dem objektiv und rücksichtslos entschieden werden soll, wer dem Allgemeinwohl am wenigsten nützt. Diese ausgewählten Menschen müssen dann in die Kolonie „New Eden“ umsiedeln, wo all diejenigen ihr Dasein fristen, die als entbehrlich für die Gesellschaft betrachtet werden. Auch die alleinerziehende Mutter Rachel Weller (Sarah Lind) und ihr kleiner Sohn Lucas (Jakob Davies) sollen nach „New Eden“ abgeschoben werden, doch damit will sich Rachel nicht abfinden und so protestiert sie bei ihrem Sachbearbeiter Noah Kross (Nicolas Cage).
